Bernard Lemelin poursuit des recherches en histoire politique et diplomatique des États-Unis au XX^e siècle. Il s'intéresse particulièrement à la période Truman-Eisenhower. Il mène présentement des recherches sur la persistance du sentiment isolationniste durant les années 1945-1960 (subvention FCAR en 1998-2001).
